Do I Pay Maintenance For A Child On An Apprenticeship?

If your child leaves full-time school to pursue an apprenticeship, they are no longer considered a dependent. As a consequence, apprentice families are no longer eligible for financial aid.

Do I pay maintenance for a child on an apprenticeship?

This includes any required child support payments, and it may impact your working tax credits, housing assistance, and/or council tax reduction.

Any changes to your situation must be notified to the Tax Credit Office and the Child Benefit Office. If you do not, you may have been overpaid and must return the money.
